Qatar-owned Harrods is Selling Gold-Plated Xbox One
What do you give the person who has everything for Christmas? A 24-carat gold plated version of the Xbox One could prove just the thing. Arabian Business reports that this little baby has gone on sale at Harrods, the legendary upmarket London department store owned by Qatar Holding, with a price tag of $10,000 (QR 36,400). The console, which usually sells for about $700 (QR2,550), was made by Microsoft and then given the gold plating treatment by customisation company Crystal Rocked.
The Xbox One is proving one of the hottest Christmas presents this holiday season. Microsoft has reported that sales reached more than two million since its release on 22 November as the company competes with Sony Corp’s Playstation 4 to get into as many homes around the globe as possible.
If you or your loved ones are not gaming fans, Harrods has a number of other unusual luxury gifts for sale right now that could fit better under your Christmas tree (as long as you’ve got a fat wallet). Customised products include an iPad Air made with Swarovski crystals for $2,600 (QR9,470) and gold-plated Dr Dre headphones at $2,430 (QR8,850).
We're unlikely to be getting anything so extravagant, but perhaps there's the slightest chance if we ask Santa very nicely...
