Dubai-based Iranian art collector Ramin Salsali has announced the opening of his privately-owned and funded museum of contemporary art, to take place in September (2011). For Ramin it’s a dream project, inspired by a passion to spread the awareness of art – especially Middle Eastern art – in this country, as well as a wish to share his own collection of almost 500 works, with a wider audience.

Salsali plans to host at least three exhibitions a year of selected pieces from his own collection, including work by Arab artists such as Sara Rahbar, Majida Khattari and Shawki Youssef, Emiratis Hazem Mahdy and Fatima Al Mazroui, and major European names including Daniel Richter and Niki de Saint Phalle.

The museum, located in the artistic hub of Al Serkal Avenue in Al Qouz will also stage exhibitions by other collectors, the first (in March 2012) called Magic of Persia. We definitely don’t want to miss this magic!
