Posh tea room Angelina unveils not one but two chic menus!
Since the original which was established in 1903 in Paris, this famous tea room has hosted greats like Proust and Coco Chanel, who of course was renowned for her great taste. With a décor that was designed by famous architect, Edouard-Jean Niermans, the brand has stayed true to its roots and to date embodies the timeless elegance of the early 20th century, which certainly goes against the grain of in-mall dining. However, situated within the confines of Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue makes this a befitting stop-gap to refresh and rejuvenate amid shopping for the latest designer threads, natch!
While the interior provides the perfect backdrop for the discerning fashionista to meet friends and air-kiss at, this is where the food does the talking, with its famed L’Africain hot chocolate and signature Mont-Blanc pastry, which is meringue, whipped cream and chestnut vermicelli, providing the ultimate sugar fix, and has done for the last 100 years or so. But with a thoroughly modern take on the traditional, the two new menus offer both sweet and savoury treats that will make you want to stay there all day long. Breakfast of pan fried brioche French toast with vanilla and cinnamon? Like, where have you been all our lives? And don’t even get us started on the ‘Cheesecake Apricot’ (crunchy shortbread with madeleine biscuit, apricot confit and cream cheese). For those that don’t have as sweet a tooth as ours, the good news is that it’s not all saccharine and savoury additions include the posh version of comforting chicken tarragon served with lashings of creamy mashed potato and tarragon cream. Gosh, Coco Chanel really did have good taste!
