RoboCop is becoming a reality in the UAE

Dubai Police have revealed their plans to enlist a futuristic police officer in robot form. They have unveiled their new addition to the police force to help them in tourist areas as well as aiding residents and visitors with concerns or questions.

The robot is set to have artificial intelligence and will function on its own for particular services. The robot genius will be able to speak six languages.

Police officials hope to have the robot officer ready in tourist hotspots like Downtown Dubai, Burj Khalifa and Jumeirah Beach Residence by 2017, with a plan to appear at malls where they can directly interact with people. The robots will also feature an interactive screen and microphone which will be connected to the Dubai Police call centers so people can ask questions and make complaints.

Colnel Khalid Al Razooqi, the director of the smart services department at Dubai police, said: "The new smart robot is the latest technology which Dubai Police will use in the future - especially with the increase of tourists every year. We are working with specialist international compnaies to create the future cop and after finishing the modifications and updates, we will have a robot cop who can work just like any policeman and won't be controlled and will have a developed programme. Dubai will be the frst city to have such a robot cop".
