It’s Festival Season pretty much all year round in Dubai, but the latest alfresco party option to hit town sounds a bit special even by our standards. A longstanding event in Montreal, Piknik Electronik – a venture that takes electronic music out of neon-encrusted clubs and drags it out into the open air for one and all to enjoy – has spread to Barcelona and Melbourne. And now it’s our turn.
Featuring an array of international and local artists, with dance and art-related activities all over the place, Piknik Electronik is a mixture of cutting-edge fest and a good old-fashioned family-friendly lark in the park. The first event on the last day of Feb features Amir Sharara, Raxon, Matthew Charles, Maher Daniel and a live show by Parisian groovy techno-auteur Joachim Pastor. Then it becomes a monthly event in the Rugby Park zone of DSC until May.
