A fire ripped through Dubai Marina’s Torch Tower during the early hours of Friday morning and was successfully extinguished shortly afterwards.

The first started on the 9th floor of the 86-story residential building and spread to the upper floors, according to Dubai Police. "The fire started on 9th floor. Civil defence and police in the scene now to control the fire," the spokesperson said at the time.

"Dubai Police will be handling inquiries related to the fire in Torch Tower and those affected by it through emergency number 999," the Dubai Media Office tweeted.

At 2am on Friday, Dubai Media Office tweeted: “Dubai Civil Defence has successfully evacuated the Torch Tower and is working to bring the fire under control. No injuries have been reported so far in the Torch Tower fire incident.”

Following the fire, fellow Marina residents offered accommodation via social media to those affected by the fire. Careem and Uber also provided free transport to anyone in the Torch Tower area to get to safer locations.

This is the second time Torch Tower has battled a blaze, following a similar incident in 2015. We’re just glad everyone is safe and nobody got hurt.
