After the shell shock of a city stopover in Bangkok has worn off (your knuckles will still be pale from the faster-than-light tuk-tuk rides!), discover the true beauty of Thailand in the eco-friendly haven of the Evason Phuket Six Senses Spa.
Hidden amongst 64-acres of beautifully landscaped parklands and gardens, with sprawling views across the Andaman Sea, it’s a veritable tropical paradise. After being greeted by the uber-friendly staff – who circle bearing huge grins and lemongrass-infused fresh towels – and the equally welcoming turquoise glint of the ocean, you’ll be whisked away to your room by your private butler.
While each one of the 260 rooms, suites and pool villas are beyond luxurious, with private balconies and open-style bathrooms, they ooze rustic charm, owing to the resort’s commitment to the environment (even the pens are made from reclaimed bark, not plastic!). Sun-worshippers will be in their element at the adults-only pool. A dreamy portion of infinity-edged nirvana, dotted with palm trees and with stunning views over the seemingly endless sparkling waters and I’m-sure-Leonardo-jumped-off-that-in-The Beach mountains in the distance.
If you can drag yourself away from the super-comfy sunloungers, a trip to Phuket’s old town is definitely worth it for funky shops selling Sino-Portuguese trinkets. Take in some olde world culture with a visit to Wat Chalong temple, beautifully decorated with hundreds of tiny pieces of glass. Also top of the must-visit list is Khao Praew Thaew National Park, home to the biggest waterfalls in the country. After a high-energy trek through the jungle, take a cooling dip beneath the gorgeous cascades of Ton Sai or Bang Pae before retreating back to the Evason Resort for some well-deserved RR!
