Pete Doherty Jailed
British rocker PETE DOHERTY has been jailed for 14 weeks for breaching the terms of his probation.
The BABYSHAMBLES star, who has hit the headlines on numerous occasions for his drug problems and legal woes, had promised to clean up his act following a brief spell in rehab last year.
But yesterday, after a hearing at West London Magistrates' Court the frontman was put behind bars.
Doherty's manager Adrian Hunter insists there were many reasons for his incarceration, including the fact the singer/songwriter was often late for his probation hearings.
As a result of the sentence, Doherty's show at the Royal Albert Hall on 26 April has been postponed and his appearance at the Love Music Hate Racism benefit on April 27 has been scrapped.
It is also unclear whether his planned appearance at the Glastonbury Festival will go ahead.
Parlophone Records, the 29-year-old singer's record company, said: "Peter Doherty was sentenced to a total of 14 weeks in jail for being in breach of his probation order.
"The show is due to be rescheduled and all tickets will be valid for the new date once it has been announced.
"Peter was very much looking forward to the show and would like to offer his sincerest apologies to all his fans and to all those concerned."
It is not known whether Doherty, who famously dated supermodel Kate Moss, will appeal.
