Elie Saab: Our Home-grown Hero
We can always count on Elie Saab to fly the flag for regional fashion and as one of the hottest tickets of PFW, the Lebanese designer put on quite the show. Strong, fierce and elegant, there was a striking androgynous twist as Saab married tuxedo jackets, jumpsuits and sharply cinched waists with sheer fabrics and feminine embroidery. Of course, there was still an array of his red-carpet-worthy gowns, but this season promised a move towards a more current look we can’t wait to see more of…
It’s a Kimye Takeover!
And the award for the most PDAs this fashion week goes to… Kim Kardashian, who’s been spotted on pretty much every FROW this season with her one-of-a-kind accessory, Kanye West, never far from her side. And from her newly bleached blonde locks to her trademark overexposing outfits, we can’t seem to look away!
Wang makes a Bang at Balenciaga
Alexander Wang is in hot demand! Quick on the heels of his NYFW show, the designer showed his latest collection for Balenciaga last week to critical acclaim. Proving he’s really getting into his stride, the collection honoured Cristóbal Balenciaga’s signature silhouettes such as bubble skirts, cocoon coats and strapless bustier dresses with his own edgy Wang twist. And with a great frow to boot!
Raf Simons’ Seventies swing
Known for pushing the boundaries with his approach to fashion, Raf Simons’ shows for Dior are fast becoming the most talked about of PFW. This season the designer looked to both the Seventies and the animal kingdom with an accessories collection of vinyl thigh-high boots, saddle bags and satchels in a chic autumnal colour palette. Nous aimons!
Balmain’s Fashion Feast
Olivier Rousteing sure knows how to pull in an A-list crowd! The designer was joined by the likes of Jared Leto, Lewis Hamilton and, of course, Kimye for his post-show dinner.
As we say goodbye to the FROW for another six months, our final edit is one of the strongest yet…
