Oscar Pistorius Released from Jail
Disgraced Paralympian Oscar Pistorius was released from prison on Monday, a day before he was scheduled to leave jail.
The sportsman walked out of a South African prison after serving 12 months of his five-year sentence for fatally shooting his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Pistorius' attorney confirmed his client's release to South African newspaper The Citizen, and said the athlete is already at home in Pretoria, where he will serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
He was originally due to be freed from jail in August, but his release was delayed so members of a parole board could review the case.
Pistorius shot Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door at his home in Pretoria, South Africa in February, 2013. He was cleared of murder but found guilty of culpable homicide after telling a court he thought Steenkamp was a burglar.
Prosecutors, who are still pressing for a murder conviction, have lodged an appeal against the verdict
