Olivia Wilde's More Than Just a Pretty Face
Not content with being unnaturally beautiful, actress Olivia Wilde is adding do-gooder to her considerable list of attributes. The Hollywood star has collaborated with Atlanta-based Alternative Apparel to create a rugged-chic messenger bag, inspired by her own travels. What’s more, she’s not doing it for big bucks. Proceeds from the sale of the bags will go to the Academy for Peace and Justice, a secondary school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, funded by Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis’ charity, Artists for Peace and Justice.
“I’ve been trying to figure out how to combine [conscious commerce] with my love for fashion,” Olivia revealed. She chose to work with the label because they’re committed to ethically and environmentally responsible practices. “They’re good people! I wear their sweatshirts every day and live in their maxi dresses,” she gushed. Speaking about her own design she said, “The bag never lets me down. It’s been stuck in the rain and mud.” Unlike Olivia, who grew up more accustomed to a silver spoon than slumming it. Just saying!
