This home-grown concept has become a Dubai institution since it opened in 2009. And for good reason – despite the vast array of dishes we’ve feasted on, we can honestly say that we’ve never been able to fault a thing.
The décor is dark, luxurious and sexy. Split into a bar and lounge area at the entrance and a restaurant on the lower level, an illuminated light curtain separates the two to deliver an air of drama, while a blend of sultry beats curated by the resident DJs add to the mysterious ambience.
Before you’re flanked to your table by the leggy model type hostess, take a seat at the bar for an aperitif. The mesmerising jelly fish tank which will surely evoke a conversation of facts like “Did you know jellyfish don’t have brains?” It’s also a great source of pride for the restaurant, whose reputation for its bar craft draws in a loyal fan following, every day of the week.
The service is faultless. Which is not true of many an upmarket restaurant in Dubai. Here the staff are attentive (they will immediately spot your drink running low or that you accidentally dropped your napkin on the floor), yet unobtrusive. They know exactly when to leave you alone. Above all, this trendy bunch have mastered the art of hospitality and are infinitely approachable.
Small plates of spicy tuna on crispy rice, and the avocado Kazan which arrives at the table in a flaming shell.
