Not a Love Story Ready for Release
Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s controversial movie Not A Love Story is finally ready to hit theatres, and the director even wants to show it to the woman who sent him a legal notice to prevent its release.
The film is based on the May 2008 killing of television executive, Neeraj Grover. Actress Maria Susairaj and her fiancé, ex-naval officer Emile Jerome Mathew, were accused in the murder that grabbed headlines across India. Maria was sentenced to three years in prison by a Mumbai court for destroying evidence in the case and was released last month. Jerome was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, and is appealing the sentence.
Varma, who had earlier refused to show his film to Maria, revealed why he’s changed his mind. "I refused to show Not A Love Story to Maria because she was threatening legal action but now it has been kept aside so I want to voluntarily show her the film. I am really keen to show her the film on the basis of, like I always maintained that it has been inspired from her story," the director posted on his Twitter page.
Not A Love Story is released on 19 August.
