Nobu Dubai's new brunch

Nobu Dubai has updated its Dhs585 Friday feast. The deal used to include a set menu of starters brought to the table, followed by a selection of la carte mains and then dessert from the buffet. Now, the format has been flipped – dessert is to order and a ludicrously decadent selection of starters now line the cooking stations, from yuzu-coated tartare to fat juicy oysters.

We marvelled at the crab, de-shelled and decorating a platter in a perfect chorus-row circumference of shapely legs, all uniform in size. We rolled eyes and groaned in unison at what could only be described as fish crackling – delicate sheets of crispy well-seasoned skin. We went back for more crunchy rice cubes perched on whirls of fluffy avocado mousse. We were like boomerangs to this no-expense-spared spread and we weren’t surprised to see His Royal Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai pop in for lunch. He’s obviously a man of great taste.
