No seat belt? You'll be issued a warning first!

Most people are aware of the new traffic laws that came into effect at the beginning of the month. One of these laws makes it mandatory for all passengers in vehicles to fasten their seat belts.

Previously, only the driver and front seat passenger were required to do so, now, even those in the back seat must buckle up!

Traffic authorities are being lenient with violaters for the time being, as they understand it takes time to adapt to these new changes.

Traffic police will issue a warning at first, followed by a fine if the offence is repeated.

The fine will set you back Dhs400, so best remember to buckle up!
