We’re starting to doubt whether the Bourne movies will be the same now that Matt Damonhas announced his departure from the next flick. The Hollywood actor who plays Jason Bourne in the first three films has decided to depart the feature’s after the films’ director and Matt’s friend, Paul Greengrass quit. Now according to the Bourne’s new creator Tony Gilroy there will be a “whole new hero” for Bourne fans.
"This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one's replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter... this is a stand-alone project."
Worried about how Tony will continue the movies without its main character, well don’t be he says. "The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal. Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he's very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I'm building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy... the world we're making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne's return (in the future)."
Was that a hint at a fifth movie? Stay tuned!
