No fireworks at Burj Khalifa this New Year's Eve
We really don't know how to feel about this.
The Burj Khalifa fireworks are a staple NYE celebration in Dubai but alas, they are no more.
It has just been confirmed by authorities that this year, the fireworks will be replaced by a laser light show honouring the UAE’s founding father, the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The show will be accompanied by music and will span across Downtown Dubai. Gulf News reports that it also will beam Shaikh Zayed’s images on Burj Khalifa.
2018 has been announced to be the Year of Zayed, on account of the UAE founding father's 100th birth anniversary and what better way to bring in the new year than by honuring him on the world's tallest building?
Emaar Properties, the real estate developer behind both Burj Khalifa and organiser of this year's NYE celebrations, is also aiming to secure a Guinness World Record for the show!
So while we may not be seeing the traditional fireworks we're all used to, there's no doubt the celebrations will be spectacular.
Will you be going?
