Goodbye Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, hello Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj! Following the confirmation of Mariah joining American Idol as a judge, comes the news that Nicki Minaj will join her.
A source dished to Us Weekly, "I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it. A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening." Another source told the mag that Nicki is "100 per cent confirmed to judge American Idol."
If the news is true, it explains why, in early August, the head Barb postponed a slew of upcoming tour dates. On Twitter, she wrote, "I now have 2 start the fall tour a bit later than originally planned... When the barbz find out 'why' I'm starting the fall tour a bit later, they will be VERY happy." Sounds about right!
Mariah and Nicki sound like plenty of diva power for one show, but American Idol is desperately in need of a ratings boost, so a lot of sass could be a good thing. The show is also reportedly in talks to bring Nick Jonas on as a judge too.
