Team Ahlan! were on hand to catch all the goss and celebrity sightings at New York Fashion Week as the fun kicked off this weekend. With Nicki Minaj, Olivia Palermo and, of course, Anna Wintour all on the FROW it was, as always, a super glamorous affair. Mara Hoffman, Hervé Léger by Max Azria and British-born Rag & Bone were the highlights at the start and we were there to bring you all the gossip on the hottest trends for next season.
Summer glamour was the feeling of the day, both on and off the catwalk. With the sun blazing down in New York, fashionistas were out in force wearing little sun dresses and the obligatory high heels. At Mara Hoffman, it was all about bright, clashing prints, with the wearable pieces having a strong tribal influence. Colours were bright and bold and the packed show space at The Lincoln Centre seemed positively impressed.
Later in the day it was time for the Hervé Léger by Max Azria show and fashionistas were excited by the arrival of Nicki Minaj who was happily snapping away on her iPhone throughout the show. Plus, Heidi Klum who is a huge fan of the brand was there too. The show itself consisted of the fashion house’s statement bandage dresses that were adapted with the addition of huge peplum belts. Geometric prints and neutral tones created the colour palette we expect to see Kim K in next season!
Elsewhere we spotted Olivia Palermo and Anna Wintour who are always, without a doubt, at every show. Olivia was immaculately dressed in a monochrome Chanel-esque ensemble.
But the talk of the day was the show from British designers Rag & Bone. The duo's first show in New York went down a treat with stylistas. The catwalk saw blue tones separates with the influence of cricket clearing that won the heart of fellow Brit Anna Wintour who looked seriously impressed with what she saw.
As the day comes to a close everyone starts to get excited about what tomorrow brings, Victoria Beckham, DKNY and Diane Von Furstenberg are all showing their collections. We'll be there to bring you all the goss as it happens!
