New Year in Dubai: How to Get Around, Beat the Traffic and Have a Blast!
Before we ring in 2014, there's the traffic to navigate on New Year's Eve in Dubai! Fortunately, there are a bunch of options that you can choose from and we've got more deets on them all.
On 31 December, the Dubai Metro Red Line will run from 5.30am to midnight while the Green Line will run from 5.50am to midnight. The services will continue for the next 24 hours on 1 January. FYI, not all trains running will stop at all stations, instead there'll be a skip-stop system. So one train will stop at Business Bay, while skipping Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall. The next train will skip Business Bay, stop at Burj Khalifa and skip Financial Center, while a third train will skip the first two stations and stop at Financial Center. Post midnight, there will be a two-and-a-half minute time gap between every train. However, where the skip-stop system is applied, passengers will have to wait for the next train for 7.5 minutes.

In addition to usual services, 100 dedicated buses will available at Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah where fireworks are expected to draw a LOT of people. There will be 60 buses in the Downtown area and 40 at The Palm.
Ninety five per cent of the RTA’s fleet, including 8,500 taxis, will be operating on 31 December but most taxis will be directed to event locations rather than the dispatch centre.

Water Buses and Taxis
Water buses, taxis and Dubai Ferry services will be on hand shortly before midnight so more people can catch the fireworks display. These will depart from Al Saif Marine Transport Station on Dubai Creek, so those onboard can enjoy views of Dubai Festival City fireworks, and Dubai Marina, to catch the world record fireworks over Palm Jumeirah and The World Islands as well as Burj Al Arab.
