The phrase “having a jar” after work just took on a new meaning with the launch of quirky bar And Lounge.
Based in The Address Dubai Marina hotel, the venue, which opens in a fortnight, will serve drinks in a bizarre array of storage containers – whether it’s a margarita served in a novelty mug or Pinot Grigio poured into a plastic pouch, your tipple of choice is sure to be a talking point.
As well as offering the usual grape, spirits and hops, And Lounge’s “alchemists” (bar staff to you and me) churn out various homemade cocktails. Its small bar menu offering dishes served to share, and guests enjoy free aperitifs early in the evening.
Homely knick-knacks and retro film posters clash with the industrial-style setting to create something distinctly different than the average Dubai nightspot. It was created by the people behind meaty eatery Ruth’s Chris Steak House, who’ve dubbed its aesthetic “Pulp-Fiction meets Salvador Dalí, and hope they’ve created a space in which any pretensions are left at the door.
The venue will also place a strong emphasis on live music, and with bands set to play anything from Nineties indie-pop to Twenties jazz, there should be plenty of sounds to get our toes tapping.
