A clinic for gaming addicts will be opened next year in Abu Dhabi, according to a senior official.
The National Rehabiliation Centre's (NRC) clinic for gaming addiction welcomes both expatriates as well as UAE nationals throughout the country, according to Dr. Hamad Al Ghaferi, Director of the NRC.
NRC is open to helping gamers deal with issues of addiction, as well as any other addiction problems. They strongly believe that the issue of gaming addiction needs to be addressed and dealt with, and they are willing to help out those with this ‘behavioural issue’.
Gaming is a real addiction, and is not something to keep aside, as those who are 'hooked' onto it disrupt their daily activities.
The World Health Organisation listed gaming as an addiction only last year.
The NRC also believes that there are many gamers in the UAE with a probloem. Mobile gaming also seems to have become extremely popular over the years – especially games such as PUBG, Call of Duty and Fortnite, among others.
Although there haven't been any gamers checked into the clinic yet, the NRC is ready to help those who are suffering from this addiction.
