Near Miss For Angelina Jolie
She’s been doing the rounds of the publicity circuit for her latest directorial effort, World War II drama Unbroken, but Angelina Jolie suffered some real life drama after leaving last night’s movie screening at the Writers’ Guild Theatre in Los Angeles.
The actress was heading home in a chauffeur-driven SUV, when her car skidded on the rain-sodden road, sliding into the curb side. The force of the impact made two of the tyres explode, nearly causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle in the slippery conditions.
While the incident surely gave the car’s inhabitants a scare, fortunately Jolie and her fellow passengers were not hurt. An eyewitness told X17 Online, “The car slammed into the curb at a significant speed. Angelina must have wondered if they hit another car. It was pretty bad – the tire exploded and it’s amazing nothing worse happened to the car. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has whiplash.”
Unbroken follows the true story of war hero and Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini (played by Jack O’Connel). Zamperini survived for 47 days on the Pacific Ocean, cast adrift on a life raft after a near-fatal plane crash, only to be captured and interned by brutal enemy forces as a prisoner of war. The movie is already gaining Oscar buzz alongside some of this year's biggest releases, with critics impressed by British newcomer O’Connell’s compelling performance as the young hero.
