Masala’s Deputy Editor Kavita Srinivasan is kicking off the New Year with a calorie-controlled meal plan that takes the guesswork out of healthy eating. It arrives ready-to-eat, plus it tastes great! We’re a little bit jealous...

9:30am
I’m not a morning person at all and usually end up eating my first meal at work. Simply Healthy, the magical food plan I follow, provides me with a delicious array of options. I usually have porridge with pear or wheat bran flakes. Treats like pancakes and low-fat banana bread also make their way into my morning courtesy of the innovative proprietor of Simply Healthy, Mitun De Sarkar.

11:30am
I eat every two hours to keep my metabolism going. My mid-morning snack is always fruit and I usually have an apple, pear or orange to keep those hunger pangs at bay.

1:30pm
My Simply Healthy lunch is packed with complex carbs and lean meats, without losing any of the flavour. My favourites are spaghetti Bolognese and the lovely brown rice chicken biryani. I make sure I eat a salad before I start my meal to get my portion of greens.

4:30pm
I’m usually hungry again at this point and have my second snack about now. Greek yoghurt with fresh fruit is one of Simply Healthy’s mainstays. Without any added sugar, this natural snack keeps my sweet tooth satisfied without hiking my sugar levels.

7:30pm
I eat my dinner before 8pm as per Mitun’s strict instructions. While dinner is not always devoid of carbs, it is usually pretty protein heavy. Simply Healthy’s Indian-style veggies and a salad with bulgur is a satisfying end to a day of delicious food.
