We're disappointed that defending champion Monterosso has been withdrawn
from the Dubai World Cup 2013 to leave 12 runners in the world's richest horse
race. Owned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Monterosso was determined lame in his left foreleg by a veterinarian
for the Emirates Racing Authorityand will miss out on the big prize.
No horse has ever won the Dubai World Cup's biggest prize twice and Monterosso was in the race to do this until this afternoon.
A six-year-old owned by Godolphin, Monterosso came third in the 2011 Dubai World CUp before taking home the biggie in 2012.
