During his visits to the UAE, Mike Balfour, Chairman and Co-Founder of The Hideaways Club – a company that specialises in the equity ownership and management of a global collection of luxurious properties – calls a stunning 29th-floor apartment with spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain his home.
The property was completely redecorated in 2011 by renowned interior designer Pallavi Dean in collaboration with architect Angelita Alves.
Combining their local knowledge and international experience, the pair created a unique interior that infuses its universal appeal with local colour.
Quirky, modern interpretations of Arabian motifs include black-and-white illustrations from the Dubai Graphic Encyclopaedia, Umm Kulthum cushions from Dubai boutique O’de Rose and a floating stool from Lebanese designer Nada Debs.
A Scandinavian twist comes from Muuto tables and box shelves, a cord lamp by Design House Stockholm and wallpaper from design store Kollektion & Co that resembles a bookshelf.
The ultimate result is a space that’s ironic, chic, contemporary and luxurious, with an unmistakably Arabian touch.
