Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell found not guilty of abusing girl from the age of six

British actor Michael Le Vell has been cleared of raping a six-year-old girl.

Le Vell, well-known in the UK for his long-running role in hit soap opera Coronation Street, was accused of repeatedly abusing the youngster over a nine-year period from the age of six.

He denied the allegations, insisting the girl was a "fantasist" who had made up stories of sex abuse, and was cleared of 12 charges, including five counts of rape and three indecent assaults, by a jury in Manchester, England on Tuesday (10 September)
