Unsurprisingly, as the founder of the successful Dubai Flea Markets, some 90 per cent of the furnishings within Melanie’s home are second-hand, vintage or antique. “They have been collected from all over the world,” she says.
This unique collection has created what Melanie describes as: “A touch of the old romantic, with old pieces carrying stories of past centuries combined with new age pieces reflecting the current Zeitgeist.”
Favoured items include her Tegernsee paintings, her long-case clock and the chaise longue – all from the beginning of the 1900s. “Last but not least, I mustn’t forget my ceramic figurine, which is called ‘Die Sitzende’ by Rosenthal,” she adds.
