Mel Gibson has become a father for the ninth time as his girlfriend Rosalind Ross, 27, welcomed the couple's first son, Lars, on Friday 20 January in Los Angeles.
The 60-year-old Braveheart star has been walking red carpets at this month’s numerous award ceremonies, alongside a heavily pregnant Rosalind, who proudly rocked her bump.
Lars is the first child for former professional equestrian Rosalind, while Mel has seven children with his ex-wife Robyn – Hannah, 36, twins Edward and Christian, 34, William, 32, Louis, 28, Milo, 26, and Thomas, 16. Mel and Robyn separated in 2006 after 26 years of marriage. The actor is also dad to six-year-old daughter Lucia with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. Since splitting in 2010, the pair have been embroiled in a lengthy child support battle.
News that Mel and Rosalind were expecting a baby broke in September 2016 and a source told People.com that the couple were "excited" about the idea of becoming parents. "Mel loves being a dad and he and Rose can't wait to be parents together," the insider said. "The last two years with Rosalind have been some of the happiest he's ever had."
