You’re met by a traditional greeting on arrival. Once ushered to your seat, you’re handed a cool and fragrant towel. The friendly staff offer a knowledgeable insight into the menu and Mekong’s Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese specialities.
The meal begins with a taste of culture. An amuse bouche of Asian-style ingredients wrapped in leaves serve as bite-size explosions of flavour, before starters of minced prawns on sugarcane.
Small flags beside menu items identify their origin. The Beijing duck is a signature, cooked with a crispy skin and served with fresh cucumber, leeks and soft egg pancakes in which to wrap the meat. A sweet hoisin sauce provides the perfect contrast.
