Wild rides planned at Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi

In the UAE, we love things big! So we're sure Abu Dhabi's new mega water park is going to be a hit. Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open its doors on 24 January on Yas Island and will bring together 43 rides, slides, and attractions, themed restaurants, shops and activities spread over 15 hectares, featuring a mountain topped by a massive glittering pearl, bandit towers, an authentic wood-raftered souq and a giant falcon’s nest spilling over with slides. We're ready to spend a week there!

“We are just a few weeks away from the grand opening of Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi. All the rides, slides and attractions are installed and the pre-opening testing stage has commenced to ensure that everything is in place in terms of safe and successful park operations. A few members of the public will be given access to the park in the coming days as part of Challenge Accepted Competition, then it will be all aboard for the public opening,” said Mike Oswald, Park General Manager.

Included in the rides are five one-of-a-kind rides that have never been seen before in a waterpark anywhere in the world. These include Dawwama, the world’s first and largest hydromagnetic-powered 6-person tornado waterslide with the world’s longest run-in at 238 metres long and a 20m high funnel. Sounds terrifying but we're totally up for the challenge!

And if you want to get your Blue Crush on, head to Bubble's Barrel, where you can ride 3 metre-high waves in the largest FlowBarrel in the world. You can jump on a flow board, or if you're a bit surf challenged like us, grab a body board and do your thing!

There will also be a water roller coaster called the Bandit Bomber and and a maze of six slides and tunnels called Slither's Slides. We've got our bathing suits ready!
