One of three winners in our Win a Makeover competition,
receptionist Rena Rose, 32, originally from the Philippines, has been in Dubai
for 10 years and says she’s ready for a change. “Normally I just put on
foundation and go to work,” said Rena. The newly-single brunette has to call on
friends to help her dress up. “Some of my friends put makeup on me and fix my
hair. I can’t do it myself, but I love Kim Kardashian’s big hair.”

Despite receiving hundreds of votes,
Rena was shocked when she won. “There were a lot of candidates so I’m very lucky,”
she says. Her winning entry may have helped sway some votes – she wrote: “The reason I deserve a makeover
is because I’m heartbroken. I’ve just broken up with someone after a six-year
relationship, and the makeover would definitely help me to move on and be more
confident again as a woman.” Ahhh!

Despite recent heartbreak, Rena
certainly enjoyed her prize. “I was so surprised how different I looked with Renuka
Mukhia’s professional makeup,” says Rena, who walked out of the salon also sporting
locks Kim K would be proud of, thanks to Seham Bensaria. “I had been feeling
less than happy with my appearance for a while. I’ve been busy with work and
haven’t had much time or money to make anything of my appearance over the years,
but I think this makeover has got rid of negative vibes and given me a new
boost of confidence.”

Seham
Bensaria’s Top Hair Tips:
Rena hasn't had colour in
her hair for over a year, so we needed to trim and add subtle honey tones. The
cut is low maintenance and will shape her face and give her a lot more body and
fullness. It’s definitely the Kim K look.

Renuka
Mukhia’s Top Makeup Tips:
Always apply moisturiser
before makeup, then mix foundations to get the right colour for your skin if
you need to. On Rena’s eyes I used a mix of copper brown on the lids, with
silver on top. I prefer to use pencil eyeliner rather than liquid and then finish
with white eyeliner under the eye to brighten the look.
