Stay-at-home-mum-of-three and self-confessed “domestic goddess” Judith Welling, 39, has been in Abu Dhabi for the past two years and says winning an Ahlan! Live makeover couldn’t have come at a better time. “I had my hair done recently by a friend’s hairdresser and when he was finished, I looked in the mirror and felt like I should wear a pair of pants on my head,” said Judith. “For the past three weeks I just stopped looking in a mirror. I was so close to tears.”

In her winning entry she wrote: “I would love to win a makeover and feel glamorous for once. My hair is just horrible; I want to be blonde but it never works. I feel so unconfident in how I look, I hate having my photo taken and always feel so dull at parties. I would love to win this and discover how to do my makeup and hair and post some glamorous photos on Facebook. Please vote for me.”

Hundreds of you voted for Judith, and she is so thrilled you did. “As soon as I turned up to the Ritz-Carlton to have my makeover with Pastels it was obvious it was going to be a day to remember,” she gushes. “My hair, it has to be said was a challenge for my hairdresser Josephine Sattout – as you will see in the photos. Josephine ended up going with a graduated bob and made me the blonde I had always wanted to be. I had a manicure while my hair was being done. It was heaven on earth.”

When Josephine completed her cut and blow dry a grateful Judith was reduced me to tears. “I cannot thank her enough, and the makeup session with Joy Castro was amazing. I’ve always wanted to know how to apply makeup properly and she taught me step-by-step how to achieve the results I want.”

Josephine Sattout’s Top Hair Tips: I wanted to fix the blonde in Judith’s hair and because of the red in her skin we went with a cool blonde. A graduated bob was best because it’s cut in a certain way that is low maintenance and looks stylish. All it requires is a brush and a blow-dry and then I added hot rollers.

Joy Castro’s Top Makeup Tips: I checked what type of skin Judith had first. Beige and browns work best and so do light and natural on her tone. Concentrating on defining the lines is the most important thing when you have fair features.
