• On a professional level, one of the most rewarding and emotional things I did last year was going to the Yemeni refugee camps in Djibouti to film a documentary about the humanitarian crisis there. My acting career also took off, as I made my debut in one of the most watched TV shows in Ramadan, Selfie. I also relaunched my morning show. On a personal level, the birth of my little princess, Yasma, was the most beautiful thing that happened last year.

• I’m a workaholic and I work 50 hours a week, on average. I love my job, and get so consumed at times, I work for 16 or 17 hours straight without realising! My schedule is hectic, to say the least. I wake up at 5.30am to get ready for my morning show, when there’s barely any traffic on the roads, save a few joggers and school buses. On most weeknights I’m in bed by 10pm.

• I enjoy challenging myself. I’m the kind of person who achieves anything I put my mind to. In my line of work we’re under constant scrutiny, and often come under attack, especially on social media. It’s always better not to take rude comments to heart, as people can say anything when they’re hiding behind a screen.

• I’m from the UAE, so this country is home to me. I have so many memories here, and literally grew with the immense changes it’s been through in the last 20 years. I feel like Dubai is my elder sister, that we’ve grown up together, and we’re there for each other every step of the way.
