Lunch Box Diet

02 May 2011

The one where you can munch all day long

WHAT’S INVOLVED:  Now, now, we know what you’re thinking and, no that’s not the sort of lunch box we’re talking about here… This diet is based on the concept of continuous grazing. The lunch box, which you are meant to carry with you all day, is to be filled with healthy treats to keep you munching. The theory is that healthy grazing will boost metabolism and help maintain blood sugar levels to prevent the urge for those nasty treats. The intention is for you to fill your box with a combination of vegetables, proteins and good fats. So dig out that My Little Pony lunch box and fill it with healthy treats.

  • A lunch box
  • If you’re confused about what to graze on, buy creator Simon Lovell’s book The Lunch Box Diet
  • Stock up your fridge with nothing but healthy fats, vegetables, fruit and good proteins

VERDICT: It’s actually very simple and easy to follow. It doesn’t use gimmicks, it promotes healthy eating and healthy portions, and encourages dieters to combine their diet with regular exercise. The notion of grazing has been proven to stop binging on bad foods and Ryan Penny, Clinical Nutritionist and Conditioning Coach for The Wellness Brothers, agrees: “This diet is all about ‘food frequency’ which means eating whenever you need to. Nothing could be quicker to prepare or handier to eat, and the foods themselves are mostly the ideal ones for revving-up both health and weight loss. This approach to eating well, eating regularly and eating less is one I am happy to recommend. Everybody grab a lunch box!”
