In a city as busy as Dubai, there are fewer places as tranquil and natural as Desert Palm. For Sophie, Director of Toh Communications, this is the prime attraction of her home. “It’s super quiet up here with only 90 villas. I love the feeling of space, and that when you open the doors, the outside and inside feel like one.
We have great views over the polo field and out into the desert that are incredibly calming,” she says.
But it’s not only the location that makes this home different. The split-level layout with the bedroom downstairs is unusual as are the exposed brick walls and lots of glass. “It’s kind of retro for Dubai,” she says. “I like to feel it’s quite LA – a place where I’d love to live.”
Indeed, the guitars and drum kit in the lounge reflect a love of life, as do the shelves full of photos. “I put them strategically around the house to remind me of happy days,” says Sophie.
