As if La Mer hadn’t dazzled us enough, there is another hotspot, The Yard, which has just opened at Al Khawaneej, near Mushrif Park.
An extension of already favorite Last ExitD89, The Yard spans over 350,000 sq. ft. and will be further expanded to 2.8 million sq. ft. in future. A project of Meeras, it was opened to public on January 25th.
“The design of The Yard is inspired by the surrounding neighbourhoods, known as Dubai’s agricultural heartland. The architecture, interiors and landscaping create a laid-back ambience for families from the local community and beyond to enjoy,” Meraas said in a statement on Sunday.
Themed around a farm, The Yard has an 18-meter tall wind mill, a water mill and a wishing well. One can see vintage pickup trucks and colorful bird houses, which dot the area. An organic farmer’s market, a bakery and vibrant murals add to the theme like a cherry on the top.
The most prominent and talked about attraction of the destination is Love Lock Bridge. Inspired originally by Pont des Arts in Paris, the bridge is built over a picturesque lake. Couples can hang padlocks engraved with their initials on the bridge as a promise of eternal love for each other.
With exquisite flowery trails and picnic areas to both air-conditioned and open-air dining nooks the suburban hideaway (it is being dubbed as that) is the best weekend hangout for family and friends.
“The Yard reflects Meraas’ strong commitment to create imaginative and exciting family-friendly destinations that provide opportunities for Dubai’s residents and visitors to share unforgettable experiences,” said Nouf AlMheiri, architect at Meraas.
Staying true to their words, Meeras’ other projects include La Mer, Box Park, The Beach JBR and City Walk to name some.
