Lisa Scott-Lee Brunches on The Palm
We spent the day at the Polynesian-style retreat Sofitel The Palm and tried out the new meat brunch, Rare, at the Porterhouse Steaks and Grills restaurant. The food is brought to you in stages, allowing you to have quality time with your family, without ever having to leave the table (especially great for those with kids).
The mouth-watering menu consists of starters including Spanish air-dried beef and shredded Gouda cheese, then there’s a meat feast of tenderloin, sirloin, chicken thighs and slow-cooked Australian lamb leg, all complemented by corn-on-the-cob and baked potato with mustard cream. The service was second to none, and the staff took the time to talk to our little ones.
As part of the package you’re invited to use the fab facilities, which include the stunning pools and beach. The promenade-style beach walk featured activities such as henna tattooing, a salon offering manicures and pedicures, and inviting massage beds facing the sea.
For the kids there's soft archery, volleyball and – the best bit – crafts. For Dhs40 they can create souvenirs from colourful shells and stones. Jaden made a shark out of black pebbles and Star Lily made a beautiful little seahorse. The dress code is ‘beach chic’, which also describes the DJ’s vibe, and there’s also a seafood brunch for fish fans. We loved it so much, we’re heading back next weekend!
