LiLo’s dad denies cashing in on breakdown
MICHAEL LOHAN has lashed out at reports he cashed in on taped conversations with his daughter LINDSAY he released to the media, insisting he "never got a dime" for the recordings.
Reports have suggested the Mean Girls star's dad offered the secret phone chats, in which Lindsay can be heard weeping uncontrollably to her father, to a number of media outlets in exchange for $100,000 - but was turned down.
He was then said to have released them for free to website RadarOnline.com, allegedly accepting a fee for a subsequent interview.
But the born-again Christian is adamant he didn't make a profit by leaking the calls, insisting he only did so to push the star into rehab for an alleged addiction to prescription drugs.
In a post on Twitter.com directed to his actress daughter, Lohan writes, "The day when your (sic) getting treatment and the rehab you need, is the day I shut my mouth. your (sic) not dying on my watch. I love you too much to just sit here witness all this go down. I never got (a) DIME For the recordings/interviews CONTRARY to other reports."
And Lohan has also hit out at reports he broke California state law by illegally recording his daughter's calls, adding, "ALL of my recordings were taped in NY (New York) - where it's completely legal to record phone conversations. There will be more to come!"
