Lawyers for British rocker Liam Gallagher are drawing up plans to launch legal action against the New York Post over a report alleging he fathered a love child last year.
The US publication ran an article on Wednesday (17 July) which suggested that the former Oasis star is being sued in a Manhattan court for $3 million (£1.9 million) by an unnamed woman who claims he fathered her child.
The report alleged Gallagher is the unnamed respondent in a case listed only as 'Anonymous Vs Anonymous' which came before a judge at Manhattan Family Court on Friday (12 July).
Within hours of the New York Post hitting newsstands on Wednesday, the married father-of-three had instructed his legal team to take action against the publication's editors.
A spokesman for Liam said, "Basically the lawyers are dealing with it. They are taking legal action against the New York Post. From our point of view we aren't going to comment on gossip while they are taking action against the paper."
