Having launched his ‘working cafe’ MAKE in January 2012, this Australian businessman is providing an inspirational space in which to fuel the ambitions of aspiring entrepreneurs.
What’s the inspiration behind MAKE?
Dubai is an emerging city with limitless opportunity for success if you’ve got the nerve to chase it. I was excited to work on business ventures here but felt there was fundamental infrastructure missing for young entrepreneurs trying to make it happen.
How would you describe MAKE?
A cool entrepreneurial hangout.
So who does it attract?
Small-business owners, start-up wiz kids, creative freelancers and anyone who’s interested in creating an independent business.
How has the concept been received?
Since launching in February 2012, it’s exceeded my expectations in terms of how important it would become as part of the start-up ecosystem. The SME sector in the UAE is getting bigger and more important to the region and MAKE is very proud to be at the epicentre of this movement.
What’s the best advice you can give?
The only thing stopping you from doing what you want to do is you.
