It is obviously boom-time in the retail industry, given Dubai was recently voted best in the world for shopping! This must be why canny operators like The Landmark Group, the force behind brands like Babyshop, Splash, Shoe Mart, Max and Emax Electronics amongst others, are expanding with a vengeance in the UAE, and set to open an additional 50 stores by year end.
Founded in 1973 in Bahrain, the Landmark Group’s international footprint encompasses 1,600 outlets, employing over 45,000 employees, with over 22 million square feet of retail space across 19 countries. Once the conglomerate’s proposed 50 new stores in the UAE open for business, it will have over 550 outlets with a total retail area of almost 8 million square feet across the country.
One of the key targets for its mushrooming stores is Dubai Festival City Mall which targets a wide segment of residents in the affluent Al Badia and neighbouring areas including Ras Al Khor, Al Warqaa and Rashidiya.
