Singer honoured for equal rights campaigning

Pop star Lady Gaga is to be honoured with the Trevor
Project's Hero Award for her efforts championing equal rights.

The singer, a vocal campaigner for equal rights, will be
recognised for encouraging youth empowerment through her Born This Way
Foundation at the charity's annual Trevor Live event.

Trevor Project CEO David McFarland says, "Our young
people are at the centre of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga have
stepped up to help change our culture.

"Our honourees are working with the Trevor Project
to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow for youth. We are proud to honour
Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award for (her) work to help young people
express their true selves with pride."

Singers Mary J Blige, Miley Cyrus, Fergie and Glee actors
Chris Colfer and Darren Criss are also set to attend the Trevor Project's gala
on 4 December (2011) at the Hollywood Palladium.
