Lady Gaga Has Arrived in Dubai!
For anyone worried about whether Lady Gaga would be too wild for the UAE when she performs at Meydan Racecourse on Wednesday night, rest assured she’ll be on her best behaviour.
The 28-year-old superstar held a small press conference at Dubai Airport on Monday night with a select group of invited media – and she put on quite a show.
After assembling us all in the ultra-modern Terminal 3, Gaga made us wait for around an hour as she changed outfit and fixed her make-up ahead of her appearance, and made sure that Ahlan! was the only weekly glossy magazine she spoke to!
The wait was certainly worth it as the GUY singer entered the room to a series of “ooh” and “ahh” as she glided in wearing an amazing delicate gold floor length gown.
Speaking with grace and elegance Gaga said: “They mentioned to me that there are some restrictions and I know some artists are very strict about their art and won’t compromise, but I actually think that it’s important to respect other cultures and not force them to adhere to the beliefs of your own country.”
Lady Gaga added: “It’s the best way to connect with the country and most importantly while I’m here I’d like to leave a message of light and happiness and creativity with the fans and that is more important than my clothes.”
The performer won’t just be tailoring her on-stage wardrobe to politely adhere to UAE culture, she’ll also be helping the younger generation of residents realise their dreams by meeting with them and giving out advice on their creativity.
She said: “I will travel around Dubai to support young designers and see their clothes, as well as listening to local Dubai music and those sorts of things. Some people are from Dubai that will be working with my wardrobe department.”
Virgin Radio breakfast DJ and Ahlan! columnist Kris Fade was also present using his charms on the Do What U Want singer by giving her a bouquet of her favourite white roses. Read more about Kris’ meeting with Gaga in next week’s edition of Ahlan!
