The pop superstar, who is a vocal campaigner for equal rights, came in at number one on the Celebs Gone Good Top 20 list, compiled by, which praises stars for their philanthropic efforts over the last 12 months.

Baby hitmaker Bieber took second place, just days after he made a pre-Christmas trip to visit a local food bank in his native Canada.

Justin is also a supporter of the children's charity Pencils of Promise, and has promised to donate some of the proceeds from his newly-released holiday album, Under The Mistletoe, to charity.

Next on the list was George Clooney, ahead of Will Smith and his wife Jada, and eco-friendly star Leonardo DiCaprio. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, known for their charity work around the world, came in eighth.
