Yoga down at Burj Khalifa

What a way to start my week! A few days ago I got all spiritual and bendy with the good folk and XYoga Dubai. Over 11,000 people hit the mats to practice their best downward dog in what was the MiddleEast's largest mass participation yoga session, marking the start of the inaugural two-day XYoga Dubai festival.

Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty led the way, and might I add she is a fitness fanatic who practices yoga several times a day. I couldn't quite keep up with her but world renowned yoga guru Suneel Singh was also there to help me on my way with my stretches. I've never seen Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai so crowded before, but it was a wonderful sight to see so many people exercise in unison in front of the iconic Burj Khalifa.

There were special sessions tailored especially to men and women as well as different yoga classes for beginners and separate ones for the more experienced. Women only classes included Om Chanting, Pregnancy, Hatha Flow and Hormonal sessions, but I felt most at home with the Spiritual Journey through Music experience with Pierre Ravan, the first ever spiritual house DJ.

From keeping calm and channelling my chi, to going toe-to-toe with WWE wrestler Cesaro. Yes, I met the man mountain himself and got him to sign my Cesaro Section sign. The Swiss star is huge, but was nursing an injury. He’ll be back in Dubai with WWE Live Dune Bash on Thursday 14 April and Friday 15 April at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium and maybe I’ll make an appearance too!
