Kris Fade’s Diary: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the Real Deal
This week I was lucky enough to attend the exclusive UAE screening of Spider-Man 2 in Mirdif City Centre mall. We had more than 200 people in the screening – a lot of them were Virgin Radio competition winners – and the movie was shown in 4DX, which basically means you really feel everything that happens onscreen. The audience was literally screaming and gasping as their chairs vibrated and moved to mimic Spider-Man’s actions, and if you haven’t seen the film yet, I implore you to go because it’s pretty amazing!
I also caught up with the super-smooth singer Aloe Blacc after he performed at Blended. The whole jazz festival was superb and all of the Virgin Radio team were there to watch the impressive line-up, which included Joss Stone, Elvis Costello and Maverick Sabre. Aloe was my highlight of the two-day event and he was such a gent to talk to. He’s really humble and seems really surprised by how well his music’s doing. Even though he’s performed on big programmes such as the Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Maverick’s still getting used to being classed as a bona-fide celeb and has been overwhelmed by the support he’s receiving.
The Virgin team sat down this week and discussed preparations for the next RedFestDXB. It’s going to be twice as big as February’s, so it’s over to you guys – I want you to tell me who you’d like to see perform. I’m thinking Drake, Coldplay or even One Direction!
