Kim Kardasian VS Hollywood
The reality TV star has come out fighting against her celeb haters
Kim Kardashian has declared “enough is enough” after fielding a barrage of criticism for her nude selfies. The 35-year-old sparked controversy last week when she posted a picture of herself on social media, with only a couple of strategically placed black bars protecting her modesty – and now she’s at war with Hollywood.
The revealing snap caught the attention of fans and critics alike, including legendary entertainer Bette Midler and actress Chloe Grace Moretz, who condemned Kim for getting unclothed on such a public platform and for being a bad role model to her young female fans. Kim shot back on Twitter late Monday night with a cutting tirade and subsequently became embroiled in a war of words with the stars. She even posted another professionally shot picture of herself, with her hands strategically covering her modesty, along with the caption #liberated. Kanye West’s wife decided to explain her decision to share the photos, which ironically marked International Women’s Day, a day which celebrates females around the world for their contributions to society.
Past Ghosts Haunt Kim
“I never understand why people get so bothered by what other people choose to do with their lives,” Kim wrote in a blog post titled ‘International Women’s Day.’ “I don’t do drugs, I hardly drink, I’ve never committed a crime – and yet I’m a bad role model for being proud of my body?” Kim also went on to reference her famous video tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J, writing: “It always seems to come back around to my tape. Yes, a tape that was made 13 years ago. Literally that long ago. And people still want to talk about it? I lived through the embarrassment and fear, and decided to say ‘who cares, do better, move on.’ I shouldn’t have to constantly be on the defence, listing my accomplishments just to prove that I’m more than something that happened 13 years ago. Let’s move on, already. I have.”
Bette Gets Blasted
Kim also took aim at specific stars who’d targeted her for posting the controversial snap. After sharing the picture, Kim attracted negative comments from several notable showbiz names, including Bette, who tweeted: “Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we’ve never seen, she’s gonna have to swallow the camera.” The mother-of-two blasted back in response: “Hey @BetteMidler I know it’s past your bedtime, but if you’re still up and reading this, send nudes #justkidding.” She added: “Hey @BetteMidler I really didn’t want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu.” Carrie actress Chloe was another to respond to the pic, as she tweeted: “I truly hope you realise how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.” In response to that message, Kim vented: “Let’s all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is.” Kardashian rounded out her responses by replying to Brit Piers Morgan, who’d offered to buy her some clothes, after she captioned the selfie saying she’d nothing to wear. “Hey @piersmorgan never offer to buy a married woman clothes. That’s some Ashley Madison type s*** #forresearch,” Kim tweeted.
