Kim Kardashian’s second marriage has ended after just 72 days.
The socialite filed for divorce on Monday (31 October), just two days after she attended a Halloween party in New York without her husband Kris Humphries, who she wed in August (2011).
Ryan Seacrest, the producer of the Kardashian family’s many reality TV shows, confirms on Twitter.com, “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her.”
The lavish nuptials, costing an estimated $10 million (Dhs36 million), were captured on camera for an E! TV special, which debuted in America earlier this month.
Kim is citing “irreconcilable differences” for the split, and she has hired top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her in court, according to TMZ.com.
The couple has a prenuptial agreement but according to Kim’s
now estranged husband Kris Humphried he had no idea the socialite wanted to end
their marriage. He later confessed her divorce decision has left him “devastated”.
In his own statement issued on Monday, he says, “I’m
committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I love my
wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce... I’m willing to do whatever
it takes to make it work.”
Meanwhile, Kim’s sister Khloe Kardashian has blasted
critics, insisting the rude comments directed at her sibling are “hurtful” and “disgusting”.
Defending her sister, Khloe tweets, “Reading some (of) these comments r (sic)
so hurtful. I’m grateful for our fans who understand and are being respectful.
Hate is disgusting. Love is everything. Thank God for family. We are strong and
we will only become closer!”
Twitter bloggers have taken aim at the socialite for
choosing to end her union to Humphries rather than work on her marriage.
