The once-cool rapper considered joining American Idol and appeared on Kris Jenner’s chat show last week, while Kim is blasting the media who made her famous. Ahlan! looks at the role reversal of America’s most famous couple

Until now, Kim Kardashian has always played nice for the paps and the media, smiling glossily and leaving the pap-bashing to her man, Kanye, knowing that her personal brand of dubious fame has been built on her openness with the media. But things changed last week when the reality TV star took to Instagram to blast US talk show host Katie Couric as “fake”, prompting sister Khloe to tweet her support, insisting, “I love this new side of u”.

After daughter North was born back in June, insiders revealed that Kanye had refused to let her appear in upcoming seasons of KUWTK, insisting she was “not America’s baby”. And Kim appeared to back-up his plan, telling US chat show host, Jimmy Kimmel, “We’ll try and keep [the baby] as private as possible.” But Kanye appeared to have gone on a baby publicity offensive last week, showing off a photo of North on Kris Jenner’s show and taking the baby to his grandfather’s funeral, with a headline-grabbing grey shawl draped over her head.

“They must have known taking the baby would automatically make the funeral about North,” sniped one source. “There were even stories popping up from funeral-goers about what she looked like. Couldn’t they have left her with her nanny for an hour or two?”

Despite claims he wants to shield his daughter from the press, amid rumours he and Kris don’t get along, it looks like the rapper has finally started drinking the Kardashian Kool-Aid, even though he previously insisted to pals that there was “no way” he was being dragged into the royal family of reality TV.
